[RESOLVED] Arch on Toshiba portege S100

Hi all,

I'd love to get arch installed on this laptop, but I am having a problem with the live CD detecting any hard disks attached to the system. The S100 uses a weird RAID controller that I have turned off in the bios so it is operating in legacy mode.

lspci tells me that the controller is a "Intel corporation 82801FBM with a sub system od Toshiba America Systems unknown device 0f00

A few ubuntu users have got this working using a modified boot CD. Seems to be something with the controller being blocked out by the boot process but I can't unload the drives to load them manually, using rmmod -f causes the system to hang :(

I've tried altering the boot command to disable ACPI and using the information at http://linux-ata.org/driver-status.html using all three variants of 'force_pcs' alas, the disk is still not found.

Slackware finds the controller no problem and that's the distro currently running on here, but I'd love to get arch installed.

Anyone got one of these Toshiba laptops?
Cheers

Re: [RESOLVED] Arch on Toshiba portege S100

Hi all,

After a few months of ubuntu LTS on this S100, I can now happily report that the 2009.02 CD does now support the SATA chipset in this device and I'm now happily using Arch on three of my four Servers/PCs/Laptops.

If I can just get arch to work on my Samsung NC10 I'll then be Microsoft free.  big_smile:D:D:D

Subject changed from UNRESOLVED to RESOLVED.
Cheers
