I just installed slim login manager, and now I can't figure out how to get out of it. Nor will it let me log in as any of my accounts.
user:root
pass:root
gives an error.
and
user:david
pass:*nothing
won't work because it always asks for a password.
I heard you can type console in login to go to it, but that doesn't seem to work for me. All it does is bring me to a black screen with a big "X" cursor, no command line.
Help?

append a 3 to your grub line

Sorry I'm kind of new to this stuff; where exactly do I add it within grub?

Hmm... enter another tty and login, then kill it with a /etc/rc.d/slim stop
(enter tty2 for example ctlr+alt+2)

When do I press ctrl+alt+2?
All I want to do is get back to the console line

Ctrl-Alt-F2 will drop you to a console - then you can kill Slim...
