how to play .amr files..?

hi

i have some .amr files that i wish to play, either in the original format, or after converting them to some other format.

i use mplayer, ffmpeg from the standard repos. but i am unable to play the files or convert them.

when i try to convert using ffmpeg, i get the error "unsupported codec for input stream".

i read that realplayer can play the files, but both 32- bit realplayer builds in AUR won't compile, because they are outdated or md5sums don't correspond to what's in the PKGBUILD.

is there any way i can play or convert these files..?

thanks.

Re: how to play .amr files..?

You could compile something like opencore-amr into FFmpeg or Mplayer.

Alternatively, you can use amrnb and amrwb compiled in:

You're correct. I totally forgot about that. More proof that me, fatigue, and thinking don't go well together.

FFmpeg has their own amr code going into their SOC branch. Since everything there is considered to be not ready for trunk, I don't bother playing with it.
