pacman only searching Core, it seems. [Solved]

Today, something went wrong with my FS which led me to booting into the ArchLinux liveCD, and fsck-ing it. After the cleanup, everything seemed to work. However, I am now noticing that pacman isn't working as it should. It seems that it's only searching the Core repos.

If I typed

sudo pacman -Ss

, it only lists core packages. I'm also trying to install the package "python-simplejson" so I can install and try "Gwibber". However, it is in the community repos, so I can't access it. I doubled checked, but trying to install "gnote", but again, pacman couldn't find it.

I hope you can help. I have tried "sudo pacman -Syy" to download a new package database, aswell as the futile "sudo pacman-optomize && sync", but nothing has worked. Please chip in, if you can.

Here is some further information that might be required.

Seems he already tried the -Syy as he said in the post.

can you try to remove the prefered servers and see if you get all three just pointing to the /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist?
Also, make sure your mirrorlist file is even there.

Just removed the prefered servers from /etc/pacman.conf - doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. And /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist is definately there.

Here it is: (sorry about the length..)

Re: pacman only searching Core, it seems. [Solved]

I had this issue when i first installed. could you comment out all servers but one in your area. ie.  In the US just leave on us sever there. then point the Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist under all three in the pacman.conf.  then try to sync.

Re: pacman only searching Core, it seems. [Solved]

Commenting out all but one local mirror sorted it. Thank you very much, JuseBox and Allan.

That's kind of strange. Although having so many mirrors is kind of pointless but does this warrant a bug report?

Re: pacman only searching Core, it seems. [Solved]

I am not sure actually if its a bug. I know its what is working for me though.... Sometimes i do find a corrupt package while using yaourt then i edit the /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and uncomment another server and everything is fine. never thought anything of it.
