Why isn't there a x86_64 package of virualbox_ose?

It's not like virtualbox doesn't have it. Why doesn't it ever get into the repos though?

Actually the OP has a good point.
Why can't wonder's build be put into community like the 32-bit one?

It says right in that linked thread wink

virtualbox-ose is not a native 64 bit application because needs multilib gcc and archlinux doesn't provide that.

I wonder if anyone uses pure Arch64, well if you don't need wine and vbox-ose then I guess you can.

Ok so if a repo exists, why can't it just be merged with community?
It just doesn't really make sense.

really man, read the above thread. I can't because I used a package that is not in our official repository. Everyone should be capable to compile that.

Re: Why isn't there a x86_64 package of virualbox_ose?

I read it the first time!
Seriously though, if the reason it can't be in the repos is because it requires multilib, then why can't we just add that too?

It just seems like the problem (no 64 bit virtualbox) is being worked around, not addressed.

feel free to add in aur a real multilib toolchain. gcc-multilib is just a hack and cannot be like that.

This is what I found:

Search the forums; you cannot build virtualbox on a native x86_64 system.
