trying to update, Pacman seems to be looking for the wrong package

Hello,

Fairly new user here.  Went to update yesterday.  Pacman -Syu gave me a bunch of kde upgrade targets as well as a few others, including pm-utils.

Pacman is looking for pm-utils-1.2.6-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz and not finding it.

A search of Extra shows this package: pm-utils 1.2.6.1-1

So we're talking about 6-1 vs. 6.1-1

I'm assuming this was a typo, but don't know how to resolve the lost package and complete the update.

Any help appreciated.

It sounds as though your mirror doesn't have the latest version yet.  Wait for it to sync or try another mirror.

I tried 6 different mirrors, all US.  But I can wait longer to see if it is just slow being picked up.

Try mir.archlinux.fr.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I added mir.archlinux.fr and pacman found the repository okay but was still unable to find the 6.1-1 file.

Did you do a "pacman Syy" to force it to sync with the new mirror?

The Archlinux.fr one has 1.2.6.1, as a matter of fact I installed it like 8 hours ago smile.

Re: trying to update, Pacman seems to be looking for the wrong package

# pacman -Syy
:: Synchronizing package databases...

 community                365.5K 1219.1K/s 00:00:00 [########################] 100%

then

pacman -Syu
<ignoring to keep post brief>
error: failed retrieving file 'pm-utils-1.2.6-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz' from mir.archlinux.fr : Not Found

Pacman is looking for package 6-1.  A search of Extra shows package 6.1-1.  If it was simply a version problem, Pacman would seem to be looking for an older, not a newer version.  This is why I think there is some sort of typo involved.

Just in case anyone might ask...

pacman -Qs pm-utils
local/pm-utils 1.2.5-1

Just checked again and did some further looking and I'm convinced there is a problem with the repo, per the attached...

# pacman -Ss pm-utils
extra/pm-utils 1.2.6-1

# pacman -S pm-utils

Re: trying to update, Pacman seems to be looking for the wrong package

Finally worked for me.  Pacman fetched the correct file on first try just now.  I'm curious what the fix was.

This time I kept my fingers crossed ;-)

But I'm also curious, what could that be?
