Hi guys,
I am having a troubling issue with KDE. the transfer rate to my usb mass storage device (pendrive) is very slow. i tried to transfer a file of size 1 Gig to my usb and it managed to transfer only some 20 MB in 20 minutes. i stopped the transfer and went over to my virtual terminal and copied the same file, that process took about 4 minutes to finish. i am not sure if its only KDE's fault, because transfer rates to my external USB "harddisk" is decent.
anybody else facing this problem. mean while, i am gonna reproduce some more test cases
thanks in advance

I presume you have usb-2 and not usb-1 or usb-1.1?

I've noticed the same thing. I tried transferring ~5 GB to a flash drive with Dolphin, and shut it down after it had barely moved after an hour. So I used MC and it worked much better.
I also find it takes forever to move files to the trash. I always just use the real delete.
This behavior has been the same for me since KDE4 was released on all distros I've tried though, so it seems to be an upstream problem.
(I don't normally use KDE, though, I just take a look at it every 6 months or so.)

no probs at all on 64bit kdemod.
so doubt its kde problem

Have you searched the forums? How many similar topics from the past month or two did you find?

Using "thrashcan" on a flash drive makes little sense.

I wasn't referring to flash drives, but deleting things off the hard drive.
