I'm having troubles with nVidia drivers for a while now. After having looked upon the forums, just have one question concerning this,
I've installed 190.42 nVidia driver from the binary package offered by the company. I do not have any other nvidia-related package installed on Arch.
Whenever I reboot my system, I need to re-install the driver beacuse the module isn't found.
How can I solve this?

Did you check it manually whether you can find it where it should be ?
This driver is available on my system here:
/lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/video/
I don't know how you installed manually, but I'd give it a try to put it to there.

Manually using "sh NVIDIA...". It builds the kernel module, supposedly. In that path I have a folder named "nvidia" with nvidiafb.ko and the nvidia.ko module. It seems fine =/

I'm sorry. I was confusing the problem with other one. After installation of the driver, everything goes just fine. What really happens is and API mismatch between kernel module and driver every time I reboot. Kernel has 185.18.32 and driver is 190.42.

Why ?
pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils
Why did you try to install it this way ?

I'd made something wrong with testing repository. I don't know yet what it's, but basically 2.6.31 kernel hasn't the latest nvidia packages module, so using those will give me some similar mismatch error. Using the 185.18.32 package (wich I have no more) was gaving me some RGBVesa error message, now that I remember...

i think there's an nvidia-all or nvidia-beta-all package on aur, might be worth a try if the standard repo package isn't working properly for you?

Don't install from nvidia's .sh file.... do a uninstall from their .sh and then install nvidia-beta from the AUR.

Same problem with ProgDan AUR packages. Kernel has 185... module, and drivers are different. At least, is there any place where old extra packages are stored? I could just look up for those matching my kernel module.

Not at all. Is 2.6.31-ARCH
I know because the error message of Xorg says that the version of the kernel module is 185..., and driver version is another number.
Offline
You didn't answer to me.
Have you installed the Nvidia driver through pacman ?
And the lib32-nvidia-utils from AUR with the same version as the nvidia driver ?
Offline
Yes, I installed them through pacman at first, the used the binaries. I used the same version of the lib32 libraries when tried the AUR packages.

Xorg after installing 185.18.36 binary. It's, suppossedly, the version of the module on kernel.

So I should downgrade Xorg?
Edit: At least, how can I make the installation of 190... binary drivers permanent? Currently I have to install them every time I reboot.

No, upgrade nvidia driver.
Offline
Upgrading gives mismatch between kernel and driver.
Offline
I'm sorry, but I still can't understand what has happened to your system.

Do the upgrade right and it will work. Update the kernel + nvidia + nvidia-utils to the latest version, then reboot.
Edit:
Are you using a custom kernel btw?

Well, I made as you said. Cleansed the binary drivers and any nvidia-related package. Then, installed kernel26, kernel-headers, nvidia and nvidia-utils again. It gave me some errors, all of them because of already-existing files. I removed them. After installing those packages again, everything works smoothly.
Uff, thanks for your time. Some lesson learned here...
