Can we steal from Wikipedia?

Wikipedia has bots to do the menial stuff like fixing redirections and such, I've been doing it by hand for days and I'd rather set up a bot to do it for me. There are also a few more ideas from Wikipedia I'd like, such as task forces that get together and edit certain categories. We're the frontier of Linux wiki standards, I think we should take it up a notch.

Re: Can we steal from Wikipedia?

I'd certainly support (and volunteer for) working groups that systematically targeted categories/pages in order to clean them up and bring them up-to-date. I think it is a great idea.

No Wiki admin wants to weigh in on this?

Well, I have seen some ringing endorsements in my time, but that pretty much sets the bar... smile

Re: Can we steal from Wikipedia?

Patches welcome. :)
If you would like to form some teams, then go for it. In fact, I encourage you to do so.

Then, please ensure the resulting contributions are valuable and improve the quality of the wiki. There are hundreds of edits performed each day. Some are very much appreciated. Others are what are perhaps best referred to as 'lateral modifications'. By lateral, I mean that an article, category, title, or wiki layout is changed from one method or style to another without any conceivable improvement. Changes of this type can often come by the hundreds, and amount to nothing but the 'spinning of wheels'.

Quality edits, including the improvement of grammar, spelling, wording, accuracy and updates are always welcomed, needed and important.

Arch is a distribution and community of action. Now, let's stop talking about it and go do it. ;)
