Broadcom LP-PHY chips

Just wanted to say that despite the lack of calibration support for the Broadcom LP-PHY chips (BCM 4312 for example) the new Kernel's b43 module now fully supports my BCM 4312, no need to use the broadcom propietary driver (which doesn't support aircrack)

Re: Broadcom LP-PHY chips

Same here, I have a HP Mini with the LP version of BCM 4312 (14e4:4315) and it is now supported by b43 driver in 2.6.32. And it seems to work quite good (though I've done limited testing yet).

Re: Broadcom LP-PHY chips

Been running it here for more than 40 hours, no troubles, no problems. The only difference is that scanning for networks takes a while longer than with wl module.

Re: Broadcom LP-PHY chips

Which firmware do you use with b43? b43-firmware or b43-firmware-newest?

Re: Broadcom LP-PHY chips

I'm using a quite old one - from this summer, but don't know the exact version. Both should work fine.

Re: Broadcom LP-PHY chips

For me b43 has crashed several times but only dropping the connection, no kernel panics. A simple modprobe -r b43 && modprobe b43 solved the problem for me.

Re: Broadcom LP-PHY chips

...
The driver crashes of ~15 minutes of UDP play (starcraft). It also brings down modprobe and a ton of kernel functions with it (modprobe sefaults, logging in as root takes ~10 seconds). The only way to restore your system is to reboot or to physically turn off the wireless (if you have wireless button).
