[SOLVED] Kernel 2.6.32, PS/2 mouse no longer working

With the latest 2.6.32 kernel my generic PS/2 mouse doesn't work anymore. Downgrading to 2.6.31.x fixes the issue.

I have exactly the same problem here.  Again, downgrading to 2.6.31.x fixes the issue here as well.

Re: [SOLVED] Kernel 2.6.32, PS/2 mouse no longer working

I was bitten by the very same problem when I upgraded to kernel 2.6.32.2 yesterday: my mouse pretended to be dead!  After much trial-and-error I was able to solve the problem by adding the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:

options psmouse proto=imps

The "kernel-parameters.txt" file from the kernel documentation tells you about all possible values.  After that I had to cold boot my system (that means I had to power it off, wait for fifteen seconds and then power it on again) to reset the mouse properly, but since then it's working correctly again.  Maybe that will help you too.
