I possibly get a netbook for christmas and I guess I'll put Moblin on it.
I saw a bunch of nice reviews and I saw that theres a media player for moblin.
I suppose that it doesn't use mpd as backend, but is there a chance that the slick media player interface will work with mpd? Since there'll be not too much space on a netbook harddisk, mpd would be really neat.
Has anybody used Moblin or has an idea how to change the media players backend?

Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to try out Moblin (although it looks really cool), but a google search indicates that there aren't any MPD clients available for it at the moment, however, once it takes off I would assume one would be made in short time An idea I did have though (maybe not such an optimal solution), is to install MPD, and one of the many web clients and use that instead until a native client is available.
Edit: It appears that the Moblin media player may also run as a daemon, so maybe that is something to take into consideration. Is there any reason you want to stick with MPD?

Actually, this FF add-on is pretty cool, IMO... but I don't think that's the problem here. xD

Moblin uses Debian as base, so installing mpd wouldn't be the problem.
I just think it would be cool using the media player interface in moblin to control a mpd server.
But I don't have much information about the mediaplayer, such as in which language it's written.

It would be cool, 'cause I didn't had to store the whole music on my netbook. But most netbooks already have a 160gb or 250gb harddisk so that wouldn't be a problem so much...
I wrote some scripts for MPD, too, but if the music player can also run as daemon, I just rewrite the scripts for it...
