Hi,
I re-installed Arch yesterday and used Luks to encrypt all my 12 partitions apart from the /boot (/dev/sda1) partition, and installed the GRUB here as per-usual.
But for some reason when I boot the computer it does not show the GRUB but just a complete blank screen (no errors, no blinking cursor - just black).
If I use a linux live USB I am able to modify the grub and use that to boot my Arch installation of the HD.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Any advice please? I've had this problem for nearly a week now and no-one that I've spoken to is able to give me any input.
Thanks.

Where did you install Grub to? /dev/sda1 ? If not, I think you need to install it to the MBR, which is just /dev/sda, not a partition like sda1. Have the mount point set to /dev/sda1 (/boot) and when it asks where to install select the top option, which is /dev/sda. If you already did that, then I dunno.

I managed to solve this by formatting the partition a good few times; god knows why it wasn't working.
Try formatting the /boot/ to FAT32, I got an error 17 on reboot, next tried EXT3, got a blinking cursor, tried EXT4 and now it works. Weird.
Thanks for your input milomouse.
