it's a pkg from extra:

you can find the PKGBUILD here:

Re: extra :: kernel 2.6.10.mm{1,2,3...}

With

$ uname -r
2.6.10-mm1-ARCH

I get

$ tail /var/log/errors -n 6
Jan 9 12:45:37 localhost dhcpcd[2425]: dhcpConfig: ioctl SIOCADDRT: File exists
Jan 9 12:46:18 localhost kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 3548 (spamd).
Jan  9 12:47:37 localhost dhcpcd[3585]: terminating on signal 15
Jan 9 19:15:05 localhost dhcpcd[2420]: dhcpConfig: ioctl SIOCADDRT: File exists
Jan 9 19:15:46 localhost kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 3543 (spamd).
Jan 9 19:15:46 localhost kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 3582 (bash).

Thought you should know smile Everything else seems to work fine. Thanks for the pkg.

Re: extra :: kernel 2.6.10.mm{1,2,3...}

I've installed and booted kernel26-mm without problem but X refused to start (after installing the nvidia-mm 1.0.6111-s2 package).

What should I do to make this work?

what version are you speaking about? the mm1 works fine wor me, but mm2 has trouble for X for me, so i'm waiting for a mm3 for extra

it is also possible that the nvidia-mm pkg needs an update or something ... check the logs of X starting (/var/log/X...)

do you use swap? how much free mem do you have, when this happens?

Re: extra :: kernel 2.6.10.mm{1,2,3...}

I'm using kernel26-mm1 with 512K RAM & similar swap size.  Nothing obvious shown in the X logs (ie no errors).

Guess I'll have to wait until nvidia-mm drivers are updated.

6111 drivers will not work with 2.6.10 unless patched ...

... 66.29 should work, though.

Re: extra :: kernel 2.6.10.mm{1,2,3...}

So where can I find (or how do I make) the nvidia-mm 1.0.6629 package?

I use swap, 512 MB, same as my RAM.

Mem:    513032k total,   498808k used,    14224k free,    48020k buffers
Swap:   497972k total,    12008k used,   485964k free,   289052k cached

This is what my system looks like to top whenever I start spamd after login. If I have spamd as a DAEMON, I get the OOM errors I posted. After I start spamd after login all my RAM and swap gets used and everything freezes. Hope it helps. By the way I've never had any problem like this before.

sounds like a memory leak to me :-(

Re: extra :: kernel 2.6.10.mm{1,2,3...}

I'm wondering.. what's different with the mm-kernel? I only read that it's more experimental patches.. any speed-difference? does it support reiser4 perhaps? would be interesting to try out reiser4  big_smile

Re: extra :: kernel 2.6.10.mm{1,2,3...}

Is there an nvidia-mm-1.0.6629 PKGBUILD available yet?

I still have to run xorg with the 2D vesa driver as nvidia-mm-1.0.6111 doesn't work with the 2.6.10-mm3-ARCH kernel.
