hicolor theme icons not displaying on screen

Any icon fron hicolor theme is not recognised by the system. I have tango and gnome as well which are working fine.But hicolor theme icons are not recognised by system as a result system tray icons are missing.I am using Arch x84_64/openbox. I have tried doing gtk-update-icon-cache but it didnt helped.
Please help

http://icon-theme.freedesktop.org/wiki/HicolorTheme:  The hicolor-icon-theme is the default icon theme that all icon themes automatically inherit from. Its role in icon themes is described in the specification...(note: it doesn't contain any icons).
