Solved: CUPS will not load in rc.conf in fresh install

Solved: I cannot figure out why CUPS will not load in rc.conf. This is a fresh install and the only message I get is "Fail." I have read the logs with the same message result. It is dirving me crazy.

Thanks for the help.

I did another install and it loads fine now...don't know what the difference is. Thanks!

I actuall found this message in the var/cups log

E [12/Dec/2009:18:37:03 -0600] Unable to set ACLs on root certificate "/var/run/cups/certs/0" - Operation not supported

Don't know  what it means.

Have you blacklisted the usblp module?

I do not have a USB printer and the module will not load in rc.conf on startup but I will give it a shot anyway.

I get that message too, it's harmless afaik. You can turn on more messages by editing /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and set 'LogLevel' to 'debug'. then do /etc/rc.d/cups start and see what happens

Try to run cups from a terminal to check the output.
