Downgrading Packages

I screwed up and upgraded giFT and now it does not work. I want to downgrade to the 0815 version but there is no downgrade switch in pacman.  I have the pkg.tar.gz files in /var/cache/pacman/pkg but can't get them to install.  I edited pacman.conf as per the man file and got a message that said local files are not supported by pacman.  Any help appreciated.
