It just says "Connecting" and then says "Offline". Anyone else facing similar issues? Btw, i can login fine from Pidgin.

Hi,
Kopete fails to connect for me also. Normally the web client is enough for me, so I don't know which update broke Kopete because it used to work before. Here is the std out:
$ kopete
Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing.

There's a bug report here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202570
It seems the developer has also released a fix: http://mattr.info:8080/blog/2009/06/24/ … and-yahoo/
I'm still facing this problem on Kopete 0.80.2 Using KDE 4.3.4. The kopete website ( http://kopete.kde.org/releases.php ) seems outdated, and says:
Current releases of Kopete are only avaliable through official KDE packages or through your Linux distribution.
I'm assuming we have the latest version in Arch...

I installed Arch + KDEmod 64bit on another machine and Kopete connects fine to Yahoo and GTalk. Whether the fix is applied or not I'm not sure, but it works!

I also want to add that on my wife's laptop she is using kdemod4 and kopete, all recently updated. Kopete connects to yahoo (and other clients) just fine for her.

What version of Kopete does kdemod4 currently have? Would help to know if its using a newer version.
Thanks!

I'm running 64bit Kopete 0.80.2 from KDEmod. Works fine.

So it's just an issue with Vanilla KDE! Can the arch devs find out what the KDEmod guys are doing to fix this?

The other machine where it isn't working for me is also KDEmod... just the 32bit version. When I get access to it again, I'll check the version.

Something really interesting/stupid happened. I deleted my Yahoo account from Kopete and re-added it, but this time I entered my username as xyz instead of xyz@yahoo.com. And it worked!
Ideally, Kopete should take care of stripping the @yahoo.com, or maybe just give me an "Authentication failed" message.
Is it the same problem for you guys?

Nope.. I always enter just my username.. Still, it does not login ![]()

i'm getting the exact message/behavior as drsjlazar in message #2.
i'm using 64 bit kopete 0.80.2 and kde 4.3.3 with fedora 12 (with all current updates)
i'm gonna dig around a bit. if i solve this, i'll post back.

i can confirm that the setup i used above works with yahoo instant messenger.
my problem was between the chair and the keyboard because i was using the wrong password and the account got locked. to unlock my account, i simply logged into the yahoo website. after i did that, yahoo is connecting with no troubles through kopete 0.80.2
so if you're experience something similar and you just installed/added kopete/yahoo, then you might have locked your account.
i'm usually not this tarded but i just have too many im accounts and too many passwords.
plus, i only used the wrong password once with kopete and that was enough to lock it.

Doesn't work now too, with latest KDE SC update.

I don't know what Yahoo is up to... but for some weeks I am experiencing this bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=226699 The libkyahoo fix mentioned there works for me. I got the library from the Ubuntu package.
