Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

Hey!
I have an Ati X700 Mobility and my laptop crashes every few minutes with xorg 1.7. First I worked with it and I thought with the first patches of xorg the problems will be erased. But now with Version 1.7.3.901.1 I also have the same problems and I can't work with this machine, but I have to. KMS also doesnt work with it. So I tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6 with this repo (http://doorknob60.is-a-geek.org/xorg-old/i686), but I have this error:

pacman -S xorg-server
Warnung: Downgrade des Paketes xorg-server (1.7.3.901-1 => 1.6.3.901-1)
Löse Abhängigkeiten auf...
Suche nach Zwischen-Konflikten...
:: xorg-server steht im Konflikt mit xf86-input-evdev. xf86-input-evdev entfernen? [J/n] n
Fehler: Nicht lösbare Paketkonflikte gefunden
Fehler: Konnte den Vorgang (In Konflikt stehende Abhängigkeiten) nicht vorbereiten
:: xorg-server: steht im Konflikt mit xf86-input-evdev

So how can I downgrade my xorg to 1.6?

Best regards!

Re: Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

You have to downgrade all xorg drivers too. Try this.

Re: Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

Thank you very much, it works!

Edit: Shit! I have the same problem like before... X-Server crashes every few minutes and in KDE the painting looks sometimes a bit buggy ( Window borders lines go over the whole screen etc.). Can anyone help me? I also changed the decoration form bespin to oxygen, but this has nothing to do with the x-server crashes.

Ok, here is my everything.log . At this time, my xorg crashed 3-4 times. One time I opened kate, the other one I click with the right mouse button on the desktop and the other one I opened firefox.

Re: Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

You can check http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57084 - all about ATI issues.
Are you sure you downgraded properly? What video drivers are you running atm?

Re: Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

What about modules? Maybe you need to rebuild your kernel image.

Re: Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

Good point! I try this and compile it again. Little question: Should I use older mesa and libgl versions or are these above ok for the xorg 1.6 version?

Re: Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

I use xorg 1.6 and have the same vesa, mesa and libgl versions as you posted, so I think you're OK.

Re: Tried to downgrade to xorg 1.6

Ok, I tried another way and installed mesa-full from aur. And now all works fine and I have no crashes anymore. Thanks for your help!
