Gamin performance

Hi,

When I used fam, my notifications were shaky (both Dolphin and Krusader were frequently slow to notice that a (local) file/folder got deleted). I switched to gamin and it works just as imperfectly. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gamin is remarkably terse; is there something I can try?

Re: Gamin performance

Have you considered that the flaw might not be in fam/gamin but in Dolphin and Krusader?

One and the same flaw in two very different file managers?

Re: Gamin performance

Dolphin and Krusader share some internals, so that wouldn't be that improbable.

-edit-

Actually, KDE uses inotify directly, so gamin isn't needed.

Re: Gamin performance

KDE does not use fam or gamin anyway.

Re: Gamin performance

There is an issue with Kde SC and new kernel ionotify https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207361.
I think your issue might be related to that.

Thanks

Re: Gamin performance

Hm, that bug appears to be no bug after all: '207361.' is not a valid bug number nor an alias to a bug. ???

Does that mean I'd better do away with both?
