Hello,
I have a fairly fresh install. I installed Hal, Xorg and all the Xorg inputs. My Xorg.conf was autogen'd but I do not see any issues with it. I am able to startx (fresh openbox install), but the only thing that appears is a dark blank screen with a mouse cursor. The cursor moves with my mouse, however I am unable to right-click to open the menu. I am assuming if I could right-click a menu would appear. However, I could also understand if something was going funky with the wm/my configs. Just looking for some help, or some direction.
Thanks for your time

I think right click probably works fine, openbox just isn't loading. Is it in your ~/.xinitrc?

Yep, openbox is in my ~/.xinitrc. I have Hal in the daemons array of my rc.conf as well. I am not sure how to read the log file (buffered stuff in console where X was started) of what X is doing once it starts, but my Xlog in /var/log/ does not show any EE/WW's. I somewhat figured it wasn't the right click (hence the title), but I was unsure what else it could be or where to start.
Thanks for the input.

Login (but don't run startx yet) run these commands:
mkdir -p ~/.config/openbox/
cp /etc/xdg/openbox/rc.xml ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml
cp /etc/xdg/openbox/menu.xml ~/.config/openbox/menu.xml
Then try startx.

Hmm. I figured configuration files were installed by default. Either way, it did not produce anything different. When I start X the screen goes black, waits about 1 second and flashes, waits about 2 seconds and produces my blank screen (with movable cursor). Im scanning through my log files and not really seeing much.
Thanks for the help so far.

Check your ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh file and make sure no "&"s are missing.

I did not have an autostart.sh in my config file. I copied it from /etc/xdg/ and I now have a right click menu. I have some form of video issues going on, but for now everything is at least functional. Thanks. Sorry for the ... er question.
