oh my god. silly me. cant belive i was fiddling with inteface for about 10 mins before idecided to ask the question here. I thought it was the layout button

This is strange, but I have no shuffle and repeat control buttons under the playlist... I always use it through the menu.
Here is my buttons: Clear, Show current track, Undo, Redo, Save, Layout.
I have git version dated 6.10.2009. How do I know the real version?

the button moved just recently under the playlist. In your version it may still be in the menu under playlist.
