xdg-open opens desktop files in text editor (xdg-utils-1.0.2-2-i686)

With the new xdg-utils-1.0.2-2-i686, xdg-open opens *.desktop files in my default text editor instead of launching them. For example:

xdg-open /usr/share/applications/kde4/dolphin.desktop

should launch Dolphin. Is this a bug in the new version?

Workaround: Downgrade xdg-utils.

Thinking about security, its a better behaviour.
