http://cqr.nu/monotux/tmp/kdeHey, I have the exact same problem. I had KDE 3.4 beta1 installed and I performed
pacman -Rd kde
before trying to install the new beta2.
Can anyone give a solution for this? Please?
I installed kdelibs first, moved the directory containing the conflicting files to my root folder, and installed kdeartwork, and everything works

OK, the composite-manager crashes sometimes, but everything runs faster and smoother with it. One problem is: sometimes windows aren`t resized correctly. In the wiki is one entry with the same prblem with fluxbox. I don`t know if it is a kde or xorg-problem.
PS: It seems as if translation of kde (german) is uncomplete. Or have I done something wrong?

It's a problem with Plastik (at least on maximize->restore):

Other beta2 bugs I've reported: here (note that 2 got fixed and they're not on that list)
There's also a problem with "show window contents while resizing", but I haven't filled that bug yet (or checked if someone else reported it).

it is done, kde rc1 packages are available in my tur.
kde-i18n is broken and will be fixed with 3.4.0 final.
so please use the old 3.3.92 packages for i18n.
enjoy the new kde release and post your comments in this thread.

i changed kdebase,kde-common and kdeaccessability today that's the reason for the lack on the db file. it is rebuilt and should appear soon.
don't install the wrong packages by hand that might be on ftp server.

Great work, thanks
However, I have some trouble with jabber and ssl in kopete. strace reveals some unsuccessful attempts to open libs in /opt/kde/lib/tls (which does not exist).
Is kdepim built with support for qcatls?

For new users with 3.4.0 rc1, the windows are missing borders. They are there for users with an old .kde dir.
Edit: Setting the 'AltTabStyle' in ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc file restores the borders for me.

thanks i try a rebuild with qca and psi

I just installed the new packages, works pretty nice
can someone point out a new feature he/she likes the best? I am looking at my same old desktop and I notice changes here and there but except for the taskbar-tooltip effect I can't see impressive things

To be fair, it's only a minor change in version number, so you wouldn't expect many changes. You typically expect bug fixes and maybe a bit of polish.
Obviously, with kde4, we can expect changes in appearance, largely by virtue to the new qt4 libs.

@foo
please could you check if installing psi solves the jabber problem?
thanks
