xen support in arch

I fell in love with arch, in part, due to it's bleeding edge software.
Today I am saddened by the fact that the xen kernel provided is version 2.6.18 which does not support the encryption I use on all my disks(aes-xts) including my root fs.  We're talking a whole 12+ versions old.  sad

I'm not sure where to go from here.

Is there an unofficial repo of current xen linux kernels for arch?
Is there some easy kernel compile tool in arch for xen kernels?
Other ideas?

Re: xen support in arch

you'll have to look into this and see if it contains all you require.

If that doesn't work out for you, try compiling your kernel from source.

Re: xen support in arch

There is a kernel26-xen in AUR which is 2.6.29.4-1

I think, there are some issues with 2.6.30 and Xen. I cannot run my Arch VM on this kernel. Debian folks also noticed similar problems: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=537783
Until I find a solution, we need to stick with 2.6.29.4.

Re: xen support in arch

Just a note here -

The xen kernel was _stuck_ at 2.6.18 for a LONG time.  There are various reasons - mostly caused by xensource being purchased by citrix and development focus changing.  This wasn't really an Arch issue, more a Xen issue, and one that was difficult to overcome without big issues.  ("big issues" being things like "segfault caused by the updated 3ware driver needed to use the sata drives in the new hardware we just bought, which can't be patched in a simple manner and will require a month of testing/rebooting/kernel panic" (testing by ME, not by xen or arch or debian.  I ended up going with Centos because it worked with a modern kernel, even tho the patches caused OTHER issues. But I could get a box RUNNING.)
