Picture viewer favorites...anything close to "eye of Gnome"

I'm very attached to the controls and features of eye of gnome, but i refuse to install gnome just for a picture viewer.  I have yet to discover another picture viewer with mouse scroll zoom and the ability to go to the next previous file in the directory ("n" and "p" or arrows).  Those are the only two things I want (and a lack of dependencies).  I don't need lightweight, I consider my hardware to be a powerhouse considering the fact it's running Arch and the vast majority of my programs are intended to be very lightweight.

XZGV is what I currently use, it's ok for me.  It's good for navigating in directories, but you have to actually choose the directory, and the zooming is very...digital, as opposed to analog with mouse scrolling.  You can zoom based on resizing the window which is good, but not good enough to keep me from searching for EOG without the Gnome dependencies.

Feh has it's uses, but it's not for me.

Anyone else have a favorite viewer for their own reasons?  Anyone have a viewer with what I'm looking for?

Mirage is my favorite picture viewer, and it doesn't require any specific DE (just pygtk). It's a little different in that it has a sidebar that contains the pictures in your folder (of course this can be disabled in the view menu if desired). The hotkeys are a little different: you can go back and forth between pictures using the mousewheel or up/down keys, and can zoom in and out using ctrl+mousewheel.

gliv is pretty nice. Small, easy to use, has smooth "fade" transitions to. Uses OpenGL if you're opposed to that. I usually end up opening things in ImageMagick's "Display" though.

I love Gwenview, but that is a KDE thing... Might not be for you.

Re: Picture viewer favorites...anything close to "eye of Gnome"

I've tried all but Gwenview (because it's KDE, but i'm sure it's wonderful), and looks like Mirage takes the cake for me.  1. no DE dependency   2. scroll to move to next picture in directory and 3. ctrl scroll to zoom.  i plan on searching for a way to switch those, but in the meantime...I am satisfied!

(Would this be marked as solved or just left as a running opinion thread?  linux has introduced me to the world of forums and i'm still fresh to the world of a helpful community)

Thanks for your opinions!

this depends on you.
if you consider it solved then you can edit the title of the thread & place SOLVED in it.
