I want to play a selfmade video with vlc but allways get an error. I know the video was running some time ago but reinstalled arch.
The error message in vlc:
No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "WVP2". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
I've installed all gstreamer packages. Any solutions?

VLC doesn't use gstreamer, so installing gstreamer plugins won't help.
MPlayer is able to play this file if you install win32codecs. No idea if the Arch mplayer package supports win32codecs, so maybe you'll need to compile your own mplayer after installing the win32codecs package. Anyway, this is the package: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/release … 07.tar.bz2 Unpack the files in it into /usr/lib/win32

I dont like MPlayer and I know that it was running with VLC.
Where should I search for win32codecs package? I can't found it with pacman...

echasslau : I believe the codecs package in AUR is functionally equivalent to win32codecs. However, it's upstream source is mplayerhq, and you don't like Mplayer, so...
If you're curious, here's the link to the package's page on AUR : http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=2697
Hope that helps, if not, sorry.

I believe that VLC can use the codecs package if recompiled with the correct options. The codecs are actual Windows DLL files wrapped up to be used as direct show filters: From http://wiki.videolan.org/Dmo
Linux
Under linux, you can use them with the --enable-loader switch that uses Wine's emulation. You have to put the Windows Media dlls in the /usr/win32 folder.

Oh, the package is in AUR after all. My quick search didn't find it, but I searched for win32codecs and w32codecs. Well, then, just installing that and MPlayer will play your file, echasslau. Any particular reason you don't like MPlayer? Seems rather silly to refuse to install it, since it's the one player that will play your file. Ok, maybe VLC will too, if it has dll loader support, so install the codecs package from AUR and try.
