Hi guys ,
I have setup a freenas server from a old dell computer laying around the house
i can connect to it from my win xp box but because i wanted to go linux fulltime
how do i connect to the freenas shared drive in linux .
i can connect via web gui for all the admin stuff but connecting the network drive i do not have a clue with .

I'm assuming you're exporting samba on the freenas box?

Another option would be to use nfs. Fairly easy to setup and works well when sharing files between linux/unix machines.
Since you have samba already setup it is probably only worth looking at if samba gives you grief.
EDIT: freenas looks nice. Includes a ton of features, including ZFS and a great looking web interface. Might have to look into this.

Yep ZFS is great to have on FreeNAS but the problem there is that future releases will be based on Debian and not FreeBSD.

Yeah, the potential loss of ZFS worried many users so the project has been forked. FreeNAS will continue with FreeBSD and a new project called CoreNAS will use Debian Linux.
