Linux and hd video

hd video is watched with brakes

hd conf: GeForce 9800 GT, nvidia drivers with vdpau support /AMD Phenom 9550 quad-core /4 GB RAM/500 GB hdd

is watching films with smplayer. If I change settings to vdpau vo in the smplayer then see nothing. Smplayer begin to works as audioplayer (image of smplayer window).

I tryed to install mplayer from aur but get error of compilation:

Either translate the error messages or change to an english locale. Only people who can read russian can help you at the moment.

I can't see where the build failed from the output, but it almost looks as if you caught mplayer in a weird subversion state. You may simply want to try again. If it fails another time, scan back a bit in the output and see if you get any more information.

Where your errors are in the code is using awk extensively. Do have all of the group base-devel installed? If not:

pacman -S base-devel

Ok. I searched now. 9600GT and 9800GT have *partial* support for VC-1 (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VDPAU), and note that the ffvc1vdpau codec in mplayer have a "problems" status in mplayer (but for me it works ok too, I have a 9300M GS)

Maybe does somebody know how play hd video here.
I used winxp and "The Kmplayer"/wmplayer and hadn't any problems. brakes etc. any codecs. external or internal.. never

I'm sorry if that ask is getting wise.

What exactly is your problem?

Do you mean:
- frame "tearing" (in russian: "разрыв" кадра, т.е. когда в одном углу кадра уже следующая картинка, а из другого ещё не успела стереться старая)
- high (100%) CPU load (ну тут понятно, загрузка процессора достигает сотни)
- "slideshow" (т.е. когда за кадром с временнОй отметки М идёт кадр сразу, скажем, от М+3 секунды, и все 3 секунды на экране висит М)

So, in either cases you can try this:
- use no wrappers such SMPlayer, just plain MPlayer
- render video via OpenGL ("GL" option in video settings instead of "XV")

BTW, high-def video is played without any problems on my lappy (ASUS W2Pc), so Arch is capable of it smile
I can even share my SMP config, but i don't think that it will be of much help — 9600GT != Mobility X1700...

Каждые пол секунды картинка дергается (останавливается на мгновение). Процессор грузится процентов на 50% (без рывков).
Это, как если бы я смотрел обычный фильм на втором пне 266.

GL вывод в smplayer не помогает. MPlayer'ом пользоваться не хочу. В нем нельзя перемотать фильм сразу в конец (его опр. часть). Словом, не удобен он мне, хотя знаю его очень хорошо. Пользовался в 2001го им.

I like native mplayer but by no means always. There's time when I like use gui of that one as so smplayer etc. For example I can't rewind a film to 90% from 10% with the simple movement of cursor. And another thing - if I would watch film al fine that mplayer is closing. And fluff it.. etc..

I understand that I have got to prove with reasons that I don't like some moments.. Maybe it's not my beer smile

When I wrote that all I slipped from my mind) - when I use mplayer natively it use a cpu very hardly and here. around ~50-60%. For example "must due" use ~15%. +- 5% and nothing else.
And the sound of film doesn't keep pace with video stream. any mkv material. For example the windows media player 11/12 doesn't do it. Sound keeps pace with video ideally. I speak about mkv container.

veranyon, i guess this post is quite misunderstandable for people who don't know russian smile

So.
Does everything work as it should when you use MP instead of SMP?
If yes, than i know where the problem is:

1. Sound output (General -> Sound). Change "ALSA" to "SDL". Set "Automatic A/V synchronization" to "100", "Max. A/V correction" to "0.10" (don't forget to enable it first).
2. Video (General -> Video). Uncheck "Direct rendering".
3. Framedrop (Performance -> Performance). Uncheck (yes, it's not a misprint; uncheck) "Enable framedrop" and "Heavy framedrop". Change "Loop filter" to "Never".
4. Cache (Performance -> Cache). Set main cache to 16 MB (works fine for me, but i only have Core2Duo 1.6 and 1GB RAM).

I can post the whole config here if you want to see another params, but not now. Maybe a couple of hours later, when I finally come home.

PS. For me, the situation with CPU load is quite different: 40-50% load (each of 2 cores) under Arch, about 80% under pre-installed Vista (now R.I.P. smile )...

But there is a baddie - a/v synchronization. A sound's in the middle of nowhere) I recheck your solution and can't go into orbit anyway)
For every video material must I have got individually a/v correction?

Performance>threads - 4 and allow hard frame drop (without simple frame drop). sommat of "low-down" but I wouldn't watch film for >10 minutes.

I think no, you don't have to switch correction on or off for every individual video.
Is something is wrong with the sound?
(I see that it is, but can't get what exactly — can you please post a description of the problem in russian?)

smplayer is a piece of mplayer. And if be slap on time it's GUI for mplayer only and that "GUI" ask vdpau feature in the mplayer and there's not that one.
