Read a DVD with MPlayer (solved)

Hello.

Well, yesterday I wanted to read a DVD with MPlayer. I had a little problem, and I didn't found any solutions.
On my laptop, my CD/DVD reader/burner is /dev/sr0 (like everybody I think), and when I just do "mplayer /dev/sr0", playbacks starts, but it's horrible, very jerky.
But while I do : "mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /dev/sr0", it goes directly to the film, I don't have the menu (fortunately, it launches the movie in french, my language smile)

That I want to know is why when I go to the menu of my DVD, it's jerkyn and when I directly go to the film, it works flawlessly..

Any idea ?

As far as I know mplayer is compiled without dvdmenu support (complain to devs about that)
VLC on the other hand has dvdmenu support so just install it and play your dvds with it, it'd display the menu and everything just fine.

Even if it's better than before, dvdnav support in mplayer is still buggy and some dvd menus show the issue you're experiencing.
If you want to see dvd menus, it's better a xine-based player. If you want only be able to choose title, chpater, audio/subs track, you can do it with some command line option of mplayer and even set your defaults in ~/.mplayer/config.

Trying dvdnav still won't hurt. Do this without a track number:

mplayer dvdnav://

You're welcome. You may want to check out 'man mpayer' for controls and settings for dvdnav; They're different from the regular Mplayer stuff.
