Smplayer is a frontend of mplayer. Try it out.

Re: Linux and hd video

You speak about front-end..
I try it. There isn't a video out anyway. Gl, gl2 etc are working. But not vdpau.
I speak about smplayer-svn.

Re: Linux and hd video

Have you specified /usr/bin/mplayer as the executable? Make sure you have mplayer-svn installed and latest Nvidia driver as well.

Re: Linux and hd video

Oh, some things for you to know first:

1)It's pacman, not packman. Packman is called the OpenSuse one.
2)I think you mean from the mplayer from extra or from AUR
3)Try mplayer-svn from the repo I posted before.
3)Mplayer of extra, as I know, doesn't support VDPAU (yet).

Re: Linux and hd video

blow in that smplayer one moment yet. - on any video I watch black borders. from left, right. top, bottom sides and picture is always smaller than my monitor. Any video. I checked all settings and can't find who can do it.
It was beginning when I go to gl (faster) vo. I returned to xv but it didn't help. borders around picture.

Example:
111py.th.png 222j.th.png (left and right borders)
On some movies that borders are bigger but first-time movies can't borders (yesterday).
I use smplayer about 1 year and watched never that borders (4x3 - top/bottom, 16x9 - left/right). The Native MPlayer is showing material perfectly. without that borders.

What is it.

Check Smplayer settings, as I told before. What's the video's info (resolution, ratio etc) and what's your screen's resolution ?

vdpau function is working. cpu isn't almost loading (~5% on 1020p hd).

I'm saying about black borders.

Well, it's supposed to have black borders smile

Video's pixels in vertical are 1080 and your screen's is 1200. There are 120 pixels that won't be used, so they filled with black borders.

I speak about borders who are left and right oppose of film. They're always. So I can't watch film in full screen resilution when swith in that mode.

hm.. default zoom = 1.0..
yeah..
But I pressed "e" button sometimes and picture splendidly in the horisontal.  l/r borders snaked.

hm. Personally, I decided all problems. A million thaks all who were helping me.

periodically when I watch films with vdpau hardware decoding that I'm seying a color snow on a display until I not restart X or machine. I never watched it previous time. Usually it's happening when I watch not full downloaded files. (torrent video streams). I very hope that It 's happening at this instant that. Not tested with a long time yet.

Re: Linux and hd video

Had find some interesting moments when watching movies. Sometimes a color snow is piked out
after watching films.
or
a top piece of movies (~15%) is shifted (watching field of some shifting). a.k.a frame "tearing"
