ATI Radeon HD 4570

Hello everyone. I have some problems with this device and radeonhd driver: when i'm trying to start X server i've got some anomalies on my screen, and the only way is too reboot the computer with Ctrl+Alt+Del shortcut...any ideas?

P.S. Sorry for my awful English...

Re: ATI Radeon HD 4570

I am using a Radeon HD 4850 [RV770] with the radeonhd driver myself and have noticed some issues, notably in OO Calc, but have no problems with the X server.

All I can say is that both you and I might be better off with the generic ati driver, but I have been too lazy to try it.

crew4ok: Try the xf86-video-ati driver instead of radeonhd. Works in my case (even without xorg.conf).

I do the same as you, but I do not get 3D acceleration, so I cannot run desktop effects.

Re: ATI Radeon HD 4570

Wait for kernel 2.6.32 to pass to [core], and you'll get 3D acceleration (possibly)

That's true, I am waiting for the next kernel for that (don't want to use testing).
When the 2.6.32 kernel makes it to core I will also start working on another (luxury) problem on my laptop: how to bypass the low-spec HD3200 (which X now uses) and use the HD4570 instead.
