Don't know how I messed this up, but audio only available on root. Added audio group to user.
Can somebody tell me how to fix it?
Have made many installations successfully but blew it someplace.

Make sure your user is in the "audio" group...
gpasswd -a <user> audioOffline
I had already added 'audio' to the user group but it seemed it had no effect until I rebooted - maybe.
I also found that in my installation, following the wiki, that when alsamixer would not execute running as 'user'.
After booting into kde I found that kmixer was badly set.

IMO, a logout/login was all that was probably required.
