How to get ink status?

I used to use escputil to get the ink status from my Epson Dx3800, but since cups 1.4 that doesnt work as it wont accept any of the usb devices I give it. Is there any other way? Its a headless server so it needs to be CLI. Thanks

Re: How to get ink status?

Maybe "ink" from AUR, it works well with my Epson printer (parallel port).

I'm just guessing but maybe you need to unsure you are a member of the group "lp" ??

Re: How to get ink status?

Trying as root doesnt work, and im in the lp group. /dev/usb/lp0 and /dev/usblp0 are created by usblp which is replaced by cups backend. Ive read that but they all seem to rely on usblp
