Concerning the 'minimize to systray icon' issue ... Currently it minimizes to the systray icon only (disappears from the taskbar).  However, when I want it back up, I click on the systray icon and it only restores it to the taskbar.  I have to click it a second time to get the Guayadeque window to restore.

So - 2 clicks are required to bring it back up.  I believe it would be much better if only one click were required.

I built guayadeque-svn 458-1 this morning.  The here quoted behavior has changed.  It still minimizes to the systray-icon only as requested.

But - when I want it back up, I click on the systray icon and it only restores it to the taskbar.  And I still need two clicks of the mouse to restore the window - one on the systray-icon which restores Guayadeque to the taskbar instance - and a second on the taskbar instance to get the window restored.

This is not very user friendly.  Thought you might be able to use the report.  smile

Thanks,

OK - I just built guayadeque-svn 460-1.  It now behaves as expected.  Great job anonbeat!

Guayadeque is really coming along. Keep up the great work - I will keep testing.  smile

Re: Guayadeque Music Player testing request

anonbeat:

Ok - still running guayadeque-svn 460-1.  Still with regard to the 'minimize to systray-icon' issue:

I see one last problem to be sorted out.  Currently - when I minimize Guayadeque, it minimizes to the systray-icon only - as desired.

When I click on the systray-icon - the window comes back up - as desired.

BUT - if the Guayadeque window is up - and I switch desktop windows on the taskbar - Guayadeque automatically - on its own - reduces to the systray-icon.  This requires me to click on the systray-icon to use the program again.  Guayadeque should NOT do this on its own.

It 'should' leave the Guayadeque window open when changing desktop spaces in the taskbar unless I specifically minimize it.  This should be fixed and then things should be perfect here.  Thanks,

Re: Guayadeque Music Player testing request

This looks like its a specific problem with openbox. Here works fine. I could figure out how to fix the problems you were having before but I cant see what could be wrong in this case.

If you have some time can you test if the same behaivor happens with amule program ?

Thanks for your help

Re: Guayadeque Music Player testing request

In svn revision 462 have been implemented a cache for the last.fm queries and the online images. This cache is an archive located into ~/.guayadeque dir named cache.db

If you had running a recent svn revision you need to delete this file if exists as the structure changed a litle.

If you can test it take special attention to how last.fm panel updates.

Thanks for your help

As per your request - I installed amule and tested it.  The behavior of amule is correct.  It minimizes to the systray-icon properly.

It restores from the systray-icon to the amule window properly.

If the window is open - and I change desktops in the taskbar - the amule window remains open - as it should.  By contrast - it is here that Guayadeque errors.  Changing the desktop on the taskbar automatically causes Guayadeque to reduce to the systray-icon on its own.  This is errant behavior.

FYI - I just spoke with one of my dev friends on the Unity Linux Development team - he's building the latest svn version to test - it will probably go into their repos - and possibly onto their iso in time.

Just thought you might like to know.  big_smile

Re: Guayadeque Music Player testing request

As per your request - built guayadeque-svn 464-1.  The behavior is the same - when I have a Guayadeque window open - and I change to a different desktop on the taskbar - Guayadeque automatically minimizes (on it's own) - to the systray-icon.  No change in behavior.  Still the wrong behavior.

Re: Guayadeque Music Player testing request

Re the above; I'm also using guayadeque, rev 464, with openbox, but I'm not seeing the behaviour described by Theoden. I minimise using a keybind for openbox's Iconify action, and guayadeque minimises to both taskbar and systray. I can change desktop, using openbox actions DesktopLeft or DesktopRight, without any affect on the guayadeque window.

Re: Guayadeque Music Player testing request

No secrets here, Theoden, I'm afraid. Just what I expect is a fairly typical openbox+tint2 setup. Here's my rc.xml, if that helps.

Thanks - I tried your rc.xml file - but it still errs the same - no fix.  sad

This one is really strange.  I can't tell whether you are lucky and mine represents a real problem with Guayadeque ... or whether yours is normal and Guayadeque is coded correctly - and my error is something on my system alone.

Hopefully - anonbeat will be able to sort it out when he's back after the holidays.  Thanks again,

I built guayadeque-svn-467-1 - which appears to be the version of guayadeque referenced by you above.

It built fine - installed fine - and runs fine - with one exception:

When I add a playlist and click the icon to begin playing, the first track selects - then it cycles through all the tracks one after another until it gets to the last track.  It never plays anything at all.  The same playlist and tracks - or any other - play fine in the previous svn version.  None play in the latest.

So something got changed that has broken the 'play' feature here.

Re: Guayadeque Music Player testing request

The things that have changed are the equalizer and the limiter. Both supported by gstreamer-plugins-good package.
Can you run guayadeque from console and see errors reported there?

Ok - here you go:

With guayadeque-svn-464 - The startup and shutdown data from a terminal is as follows;

[theoden@Cootchie guayadeque]$ guayadeque

With guayadeque-svn-467 - The startup and shutdown data from a terminal is as follows;

[theoden@Cootchie guayadeque]$ guayadeque

As you can clearly see anonbeat - Gstreamer errors are occurring in the latest svn version - and nothing is played, and as I said previously - Guayadeque simply cycles down through the playlist to the end - and nothing plays.

svn 464 however - works properly.  Hope this helps.

Ok - I built version 471.  Still doesn't play - but some behavior changed:

1.  When a playlist is selected and you tell it to play - it no longer cycles down through the playlist - it stays on the first track.  BUT ...

2.  It still does not play - and errors with the following error messages:

09:25:20 PM: Error: Could not get the GSession Object Path
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
09:26:01 PM: Error: Gstreamer error 'Internal data flow error.'

09:26:41 PM: Error: Could not get the content of the lyrics.
09:26:42 PM: Error: Could not get the content of the lyrics.
[theoden@Curmudgeon ~]$

As you can see - Gstreamer is still the problem.
