ATi wiki and KMS

Since there is NO kms support for ATi cards, should we remove the KMS related sections in the ATi wiki ?

Re: ATi wiki and KMS

i think that default there is no support but you can always enable it by appending something on boot.

Can you? I failed to spot it in the wiki - any chance of sharing your info?

*Sigh*
I grow tired of the ATi regression and look forward to a time when using an ATi card will be a no-brainer...before I die.

Re: ATi wiki and KMS

Hello world.

This week I installed kernel 2.6.32.2-2 from testing. I added "radeon.modeset=1" at the end of the kernel-line in my menu.lst and added "radeon" to the modules in my rc.conf. This gave me the "late start" KMS without problems (didn't get the early start working).

Should I follow the modified steps in the Wiki or can I leave it as it is?

Seems to be it's not OK, in glxgears I dropped from around 1250 fps to 550 fps. I will try the steps from the wiki.
