Getting empathy to work

I am new to arch linux. I just installed telepathy and all the protocol clients.

I added a new account in gtalk, and it never seems to connect. Can someone guide me, i am pretty noob in all this.

The same thing here. I cannot find any tutorial how this thing works. Or how to make it work.

works here on clean installation. i just selected Gtalk, completed user as user@gmail.com and completed the password and hit connect.
you can also try to set from Edit->Accounts->Select google account and from advaced click on Encryption required (TLS/SSL).

i notice once that i had to remove that account and add it again.

Stupid mistake, after entering your email id and passwd, in advanced settings, set the server to talk.google.com. I immediately got connected.
