Wireless keyboard and root encryption

hi all :>
i will purchase a wireless keyboard soon because i want to get rid of those annoying wires :> ... BUT will i face any problems concerning my root encryption? will the bootimage recognises the usb receiver?
or does the "usbinput" module just handle everything?

Re: Wireless keyboard and root encryption

AFAIK, if it is recognized by the BIOS (and it should be) it'll work just fine.

Related question: can someone sniff your passwords on a wireless keyboard thereby defeating any disc encryption?  I don't think they transmit the key encrypted do they?

Re: Wireless keyboard and root encryption

Quite possibly. If someone captures the packets and then decodes them, but this someone has to really be after your passwords, cause this would requiere hell lot of work...

Re: Wireless keyboard and root encryption

yeah it's possible, i read several threads, while googling my question, concerning the security of cordless keyboards. the encryption key of microsoft wireless keyboards is really weak and was encrypted using some kind of radio receiver, a sound card and brute force tools.
i think it's the same as wireless network encryption. capture keystrokes, dump them, crack the key.
