Do you need any config files from me?

Re: [Solved] SLIM + fbsplash, deadly combination..

who is 2gether, and why are you specifically asking him/her for help? As for solving your problem...

* Have you tried both components independently (fbsplash w/o slim and vice versa)
* Does your mouse work or is that frozen too?
* If they're both frozen you should probably make sure that HAL is starting properly (it should be in the DAEMONS array in your rc.conf).
* From the 'frozen' slim screen can you switch to an alternate virtual terminal (That's usually Ctrl+Alt+Fx)?
* Have you checked your log files (especially the dmesg output and the Xorg logs)
* Are you using an xorg.conf or not?

Answer those questions and we'll go from there. tongue

BTW... I've set up a system with fbsplash and slim that worked fine for quite a while...

Hi 2gether and Hi Ghost1227,

firstly thanks for your reply.

1. I installed SLim 2 months ago. And fbsplash 2 days ago. So, Slim alone worked fine..
2. In Slim, I never had any mouse support.
3. HAL is starting as a DAEMON.
4. Nope, I can't do no switches.
5. Nope, I'll check them now.
6. Yes, I'm using an xorg.conf

Re: [Solved] SLIM + fbsplash, deadly combination..

I just installed fbsplash, slim and a few fbsplash themes. They are working great. SO either you have not done something right or I have magical powers.
I guess you could post step by step what you did.

Hi 2gether and Hi Ghost1227,

Can't crack the code. sad

Re: [Solved] SLIM + fbsplash, deadly combination..

I solved it.

My old Daemon array in rc.conf

DAEMONS=(hibernate-cleanup  fbsplash @syslog-ng @network @hal @fam @powernowd..)

And my new Daemon array:

DAEMONS=(hibernate-cleanup hal fbsplash @syslog-ng @network @fam @powernowd

HAL must start before Slim is starting.
Therefore I deleted it from background processes.

All 2gether, thank you!
