Extra-KDE4.3: Weather Wallpaper plugin does not work with US cities?

Title says it all.

Granted, I don't live in one of the top 20 most-populated cities in the US, but I can't find one city where this plugin does what it is supposed to, i.e. say Chicago or New York City etc.  I've found that the Weather Canada and BBC sources work--but I haven't found any cities where the NOAA source works.

Note: cities do come up in a search...it is just that no wallpaper gets displayed apart from the default "air" wallpaper.

Yes, I've also found that in KDE 4 the weather utilities seem lacking for US cities when using the NOAA data. In my experience the NOAA source isn't even collecting the temperature (although it does get pressure and wind speed).  I recall in Gnome the weather applet worked rather well.  I guess I (or someone else) needs to investigate this and possibly fix.  It seems as though it would be very useful.

(topic rose from the dead as a ping of sorts)
