Pango: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output

Hello!

When starting some apps like gedit or creating a pdf with OO,  I get the following error message (and the pdf output is really ugly, the fonts look very fuzzy):

(gedit:11587): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common'

I have this problem since I installed arch.

I tried to solve it by installing various packages like gsfonts, ttf-* or filling the /etc/pango/pango.modules-file with the output of pango-querymodules (= pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules') but nothing worked. And this is bad as very many apps rely on pango.

Does anyone have another guess what could be wrong?

Bumping, as the problem still exists.

I was having this problem too, just switch to a different font like Sans.
Install some other fonts ($sudo pacman -Ss font)
