Hello again everyone. I have a Dell Inspiron 15n (1545) laptop and whenever I try to suspend, it never does, it just goes to a black screen with a white cursor on the upper left. I have to hold down the power to turn it off at that point. Back when I used to use Kubuntu this worked fine but with Arch it doesn't seem to work.
I have searched the forum and the topic I found that already existed about this was someone couldn't get their computer to resume after suspending but mine never goes into suspend in the first place, just a black screen with a white cursor.
I haven't tried hibernating but I'm scared to. This may have worked fine in 2.6.31 but I don't remember. I haven't tried suspending much until now.

I suggest you try the pf kernel patchset, which conveniently includes TuxOnIce.

TuxonIce appears to be tailored for hibernate functionality, but my problem is with suspending. (I'm not sure if hibernate works either I haven't tried that yet). Could it be related to KMS?
