Intel 4500MHD problems.... Again.

I've tried the other threads marked as "SOLVED" to no avail but I still can't get this damn card working. The issue is with the Intel 4500MHD embedded graphics chip inside an HP Pavilion DV6-1245DX. I have installed the latest everything (just did a -Syu not 10 minutes ago) and am running a 64-bit install. Every time I start X configured to use the Intel driver all I get is a blank screen and the system becomes completely unresponsive requiring hard restart. Same thing happens with the VESA driver with the only difference being 2 cursor-shaped artifacts. The config I was using was generated by X -configure. Running startx command with no xorg.conf loads and appears to display TWM but immediately becomes completely unresponsive... requiring hard restart. Both Xorg.0.log and Xorg.0.log.old are BLANK!? o.O

Again, this is running all the latest kernel (2.6.32), xorg, and driver packages on a 64-bit system.

Guess I have a knack for purchasing laptops with nerve racking GPU drivers... Last laptop had an ATI Xpress 200M!

Please help; I can't take much more of Windows 7!

That's odd, the same card works fine for me, out of the box and without xorg.conf.
This is kind of a long shot, but maybe X is unresponsive because your input devices are not correctly loaded? Double-check that xf86-input-evdev is installed and hal running.

Re: Intel 4500MHD problems.... Again.

Tried it, same results. I was under the impression that the Intel GPU would be the least difficult device to get going and the Broadcom wireless card be the most difficult. So far the opposite has been true. The thing works perfect in Kubuntu 9.10, but I really don't want to use that...

This would be much easier to diagnose if the Xorg logs weren't blank... why the hell would they be? The only time they have anything in them is when I run X -configure.

Do you by any chance have a graphics card currently installed?  If so there could be an issue with you waiting to use the onboard and your bios only allowing you to use the pci?  There shouldn't be anything wrong with your setup and everything should work fine.

Edit: Sorry I didn't even look at your sig Disreguard that!

What is the driver you are installing after you installed xorg?  is it the xf86-video-intel?

Yes, I'm using the xf86-video-intel driver.
