Since I upgraded to 2.6.23 the kernel does not recognise one of my three hard drives (no device node is created), it is a Western Digital 500GB WD5000AAKS. The disk itself is fine and is still recognised by the old kernel and Windows.

Search the forums. Someone else posted about this too.

It was like the 5th topic when searching for 2.6.32
I haven't lost my mind; I have a tape back-up somewhere.

Those two threads don't provide any solution... I have used UUID names in my fstab for quite a while now. The drives are simply not detected and I have strange errors on boot (can't remember what they are right now, I'll find out).

Ok... now it decides to work this time. Odd.

@op - I understand that neither thread has a solution, but opening a new thread on the same topic just clutters up the forums and lowers the signal to noise ratio for others with this problem who search the forums. You might want to open a bug report (search first though).

Think I'll wait to update since this is the drive I got.

My forum etiquette might not be the best, and maybe i misunderstood graysky, but maybe you should post those mobo types on, and/or move this to one of the existing threads.

Someone should make an official bug report if this is so wide spread since several threads are now open and no one has yet found a solution.
