passwordmaker-cli package not orphaned but in dire need of update

The source code for this project has a known bug which is preventing yaourt from building it. The fix is simple enough, and another user made the suggestion to add the fix almost two months ago but the PKGBUILD for this package still hasn't been updated. I have contacted the maintainer of this package via the "send e-mail" link on his/her profile, but I see that this user has not posted in the Arch Forums since Oct. 2007 and has not updated the package itself since Jan. 2008.

I would like to step in as maintainer of this package if the maintainer does not reply. As I am new to the Arch community, what is the protocol for replacing the maintainer on an inactive package? How long should I wait for a response from the maintainer before I request that the package be orphaned so that I can take it over?

Nevermind, the maintainer has replied and PKGBUILD has been updated.
