So I followed the "official" Arch MPD set up guide which enabled me to successfully set up MPD with ncmpcpp.
Sadly, however, the same can not be said of the information available relating to mpdscribble set up. For the life of me I can't get it to scrobble. There are barely 6 lines explaining what needs to be done so it can't be that difficult and yet, nothing.
In trying to establish where I went wrong I've attempted more than one fresh installation of mpdscribble where I've followed the scanty advice available. In this case Google has not been my friend.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Okay, update- I've tinkered some more and now the problem is one of permissions- "cannot open /var/log/mpdscribble: Permission denied...aborting."
Once again, any help...

Problem solved- not quite sure how.
Needless to say there's some information lacking or incorrect in the various wikis.
Also md5 password generator proved to be an unnecessary step (in case anyone was wondering).

You might want to try out scmpc instead. Personally I think mpdscribble suck since when I was using it, suddenly it stopped scrobbling at random intervals.
