[sorted] Wesnoth 1.6.5 : unable to use menus

I installed wesnoth 1.6.5 in my i686/openbox setup but I can't use the program, since clicking on the menu boutons has no result. Music plays well, and the shadowing changes when mouse hovers over the buttons, but there is no reaction.

Starting with wesnoth -c just leads to the next layer of menus, but not much better luck...
