When I try to play any song that's not an mp3 audaious hangs and I have to manually kill it. Totem can play them, I have both audacious and audacious-plugins installed as well as all the necessary gstreamer plugins. So what's wrong here?SOLVED]

I'm sorry, I couldn't reproduce your problem. I just installed Audacious and tried it out. I installed the package "audacious", including all dependencies. I played OGG and FLAC files without a problem. As for settings, for output I am using "ALSA Gapless Output Plugin", which is right, because as for sound daemons I only have ALSA installed. I am using GNOME on Arch 64.
If you try it by running Audacious from a terminal window, do you see any error messages?

I am using OSS plugin and arch64 and xfce as DE, when starting audacious from the terminal it shows the following
Failed to load plugin (/usr/lib/audacious/General/mtp_up.so): libmtp.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Failed to load plugin (/usr/lib/audacious/General/lirc.so): liblirc_client.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

an audacious-plugins update solved it.
