wireless not working[SOLVED]

I just got arch installed. My wireless won't work. When i type iwconfig it shows wlan0, it lists my card, and I put in my ESSID.
Once I type dhcpcd wlan0 it says

dhcpcd: version 5.0.6 starting
dhcpcd: wlan0: interface not found or invalid
dhcpcd: timed out

Any help appreciated.

Re: wireless not working[SOLVED]

Check if you have associated successfully with the access point before you issue the dhcpcd command.

More details here.

Re: wireless not working[SOLVED]

Ive went through that entire article with no avail.

I know its something minor im missing. I just dont know what.

EDIT: I just ran the iwconfig command. And it does say Access Point: Not Associated.

So, How do I associate it?

Re: wireless not working[SOLVED]

You associate it with the iwconfig command - depending on your method of encryption:

Re: wireless not working[SOLVED]

So what happens when you enter:

 # iwconfig wlan0 essid "MyEssid"

Re: wireless not working[SOLVED]

Check your logs after the association attempt, there might be some clues there.

Nothing. It doesnt display anything. It put my essid in. But it says Access point not associated.

What logs am I looking for?

EDIT ifconfig wlan0 up returns no such file or directory.

Re: wireless not working[SOLVED]

If you are going to do this all manually, you will need to familiarize yourself with the process:

I'd recommend you take the easy option and install wicd...

Excellent! Can you please prepend [SOLVED] to the thread title?
