By "drop down menu" for "Google's suggestion box", do you mean the search suggestions that pop-up from Google, or the Firefox created box-history pop-up?
I assume you mean the suggestions from Google. I honestly can never tell when it's going to appear. It's seems to appear randomly for me, on different OSs and different browsers. ![]()
Although, there is a setting for it under "Settings" on the Google homepage. Did you accidentally disabled it?

Probably not. It works on other distros. But not arch. I honestly don't know. It never worked on arch. No idea why!
